The CIHP doctors and coaches have worked with athletes from around the world that have competed in the Olympics, professional athletic teams and Division I programs. The coaches have attended international schools and completed many hours of rigorous testing and examinations in order to be the best in their field, to understand the human body and to be able to provide their customers with the best tailored performance programs available.
The CIHP doctors are internationally recognized as rehabilitation experts. They have extensive clinical experience working with high level athletes and complicated cases. They have studied and lectured internationally on Sports and Rehabilitation Medicine.
Clayton D. Skaggs, DC
is the centers’ Medical Director and founder of CIHP and The Karel Lewit Clinic. He brings over 20 years of clinical experience in rehabilitation and manual medicine. Dr. Skaggs regularly travels to Europe, Canada and other parts of the world learning, teaching and conducting research on current treatment. He was Associate Professor at Logan University, College of Chiropractic and Adjunct faculty at Washington University School of Medicine for 10 years, and has served on the post-doctoral faculty of eight universities. Dr. Skaggs has contributed to many journal articles and book chapters and has lectured throughout the U.S., Canada, Australia, Europe and Scandinavia on rehabilitative medicine. His practice includes high school and college athletes, professional athletes and performers from the NHL, NFL, MLB, WNBA, WSPA, MISL, US Olympic team and Broadway. Dr. Skaggs is currently the Injury and Performance Physician for the St. Louis Baseball Cardinals.

Stephane Cazeault B.Sc.
is a High Performance Consultant for C.I.H.P. He received his bachelor’s degree in Exercize Science from the University of Montreal. He is a Level 5 Biosignature and Poliquin International Certification Program (P.I.C.P.) strength coach. Stephane has coached athletes from the NHL, NFL, MLB, and the AFL.
Emily Barks, DC
is a Consulting Physician for CIHP. Her special interests nutrition, pregnancy care, acupuncture, and neurological rehabilitation. Currently, she is a staff physician at the Musculoskeletal Pain in Pregnancy Clinic at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and an adjunct faculty member in the biology department at Lindenwood University.
Dr. Barks received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Lindenwood University and graduated magna cum laude from Logan College of Chiropractic. She is board certified in Acupuncture. She has completed courses through the Prague School of Rehabilitation, Motion Palpation Institute, and International IV Nutritional Therapy for Professionals.
Jason G. Biondo, DC
is a Consulting Physician for CIHP. Dr. Biondo received a of Science Degree in Human Biology from Logan University. He received his Doctorate from Logan College of Chiropractic in Chesterfield, where he graduated with the honor of being awarded the Al Chamberlain Student Doctor Award for exemplary clinical performance. Dr. Biondo also received a Master’s Degree in Sports Science and Rehabilitation from Logan University Programs. His special interests include conservative management of shoulder and lower extremity injuries, sports and spine rehabilitation, and neurodynamic rehabilitation.
Dr. Biondo is full body certified in Active Release Technique and also holds certification through the Motion Palpation Institute and Prague School of Rehab. Dr. Biondo has attended courses on performance care and rehabilitation with Stu McGill Phd, Brett Winchester DC, and clinicians from the Prague School of Rehab.
Kelly Scheller, PT
is a a Consulting Physical Therapist at CIHP. Kelly received her Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy from Saint Louis University. Kelly has over 20 years of rehabilitation experience with multiple acute care diagnoses. Her primary area of focus is in orthopedics. Kelly has competed in several marathons and is an avid cyclist.
James W. George, DC
is a Consulting Physician for CIHP and Clinic Director for the Karel Lewit Clinic. Dr. George received his Bachelor of Science degrees in Exercise Science from Truman State University and in Human Biology from Logan University. He graduated magna cum laude from Logan University, College of Chiropractic. Dr. George is an instructor of chiropractic rehabilitation at Logan University, College of Chiropractic and adjunct instructor at Washington University School of Medicine, Department of Obstetrics. Dr. George was the senior staff physician at the Musculoskeletal Pain in Pregnancy Clinics at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. He has taught and lectured on chiropractic rehabilitation throughout the United States, Canada, and Eastern Europe. He has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and co-authored a book chapter on training progressions for hockey players.
In addition to his extensive training in manual therapy and rehabilitation, Dr. George is board certified in acupuncture. Dr. George is currently certified in dry needling, and hascompleted additional training through the Functional Integrated Therapy Institute for dry needling in Sports Injury Management.

Jacob W. Stegmaier, DC
is a Consulting Physician for CIHP. Dr. Stegmaier received a Bachelor in Life Science degree from Logan University. He received his Doctorate from Logan College of Chiropractic in Chesterfield, MO. Dr. Stegmaier has certifications through the Motion Palpation Institute and in head, neck and orofacial rehabilitation. He has attended courses with Stu McGill PhD., Craig Liebenson DC, Neil Osborne DC and Brett Winchester DC. He has worked with professional Squash athletes and professional dancers. He also has special interests in foot/ankle injuries and rehabilitation.
Douglas P. Maxeiner, DC
is a Consulting Physician for CIHP. Dr. Maxeiner received his Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Physics from the University of Missouri St. Louis. He receieved his Doctorate from Logan College of Chiropractic in Chesterfield, Mo. Dr. Maxeiner is full body certified in Active Release Techniques including Biomechanics and Nerve Entrapment. He is currently seeking Diplomat status with the American Chiropractic Rehabilitation Board. Dr. Maxeiner has also received his Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist designation from the NSCA.
Alexandra Bernardin, B.Sc.
is the Head Coach at CIHP. She has received a bachelor’s degree in both Human Nutrition and in Kinesiology at the University of McGill in Montreal, Quebec. She is a Level 3 Canadian National Certified Coach in artistic gymnastics. She has also completed the Level 2 Biosignature and Poliquin International Certification Program (P.I.C.P.). Alexandra has 15 years of coaching experience in gymnastics, competitive fitness and strength & conditioning.
Bryan Sauder, B.Sc. C.S.C.S.
is a Senior Coach at CIHP, and he brings almost 10 years of coaching experience to CIHP helping his clients reach previously unattainable goals. He attended the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO where he received his Bachelors degree in Nutrition and Fitness. Bryan is a Level 2 Poliquin International Certification Program (P.I.C.P.) Strength and Conditioning Coach. He is also a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. In addition to his training education at CIHP, he has taken courses with Andre Benoit, Stu McGill PhD and John Berardi PhD. Bryan’s expertise and interests include program design to rehabilitate injuries from minor knee issues to total hip replacements. Bryan also demonstrates extensive knowledge using nutritive and supplemental therapy to modulate imbalanced hormones.
Additional certifications include Precision Nutrition Level 1 and PNF training.
Tony Soaib, B.Sc.
is Head Coach at CIHP. He received his B.E.S. in Exercise Science from the University of Missouri St. Louis. He played varsity baseball while attending the University of St. Louis and also played one season of football at Westminster College. In addition to his training at CIHP, Tony has taken courses with Andre Benoit, John Berardi PhD and Stu McGill PhD. He has coached athletes from high school to the elite Tony is a Level 2 Poliquin International Certification Program (PICP) Strength and Conditioning Coach, as well as Poliquin Biosignature certification and Biosignature lab analysis. To further assist his clients, Tony is certified in Poliquin Instant Muscle Strengthening Techniques (PIMST) and fascial abrasion technique.
Perry Merlotti B.Sc.
is a Senior Coach at C.I.H.P. He received his Bachelors degree from Missouri Southern State University. Perry completed his internship with CIHP and shortly after began coaching. Perry is a Level 2 Poliquin International Certification Program (P.I.C.P) strength and conditioning coach. He also holds a Level 1 Biosignature certification through P.I.C.P.
Sarah Evers, B.Sc.
is a Certified Coach at CIHP. She received her Bachelors Degree in Health Promotion and Wellness from Missouri Southern State University, where she was also a four year collegiate soccer player. She completed her summer internship at CIHP in 2011.
Sean Morrissey, B.Sc. C.S.C.S.
is a certified Coach at CIHP. Sean received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Missouri. Following graduation, Sean completed an internship with Riekes Center for Human Enhancement in Menlo Park California. He is a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Sean has worked with a broad population of clients ranging from youth, general, and athletic.
